The #PWNCares Mutual Aid Fund provides financial support to any trans or cis woman, gender diverse or transgender person living with HIV over the age of 18. Applicants that are selected receive up to $500 of mutual aid funds for healthcare, housing, or whatever they most need!

As our communities continue to suffer the impacts of fascism through the annihilation of support programs designed to keep us healthy and resourced, and through the doubling down on systems that incarcerate, criminalize, and economically indebt us, we have long realized no one is going to step in to save us. We have to save each other.

The reality is that someone who is stressed about feeding their family will have poorer health outcomes than someone who isn’t. Someone who is worried about keeping a roof over their head is less likely to find time for resistance. And that’s by design. The #PWNCares Mutual Aid Fund is just one way we can ensure solidarity within our movement, safety for our members, and build systems of care that meet our people’s needs. We are here to do more than survive. We are here to live, to love, and to thrive together.

Note: This fund is not intended to serve as emergency funding in terms of turn-around time; it may take up to 30 days to receive a response from the selection committee regarding the status of your application.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Identify as a trans or cis woman, gender diverse or transgender person living with HIV
  • Live in the United States
  • Not be a board member, employee, or immediate family member of someone affiliated with PWN-USA or its fiscal sponsor

Selection Process

  • Individuals may receive up to $500
  • The fund is finite and we cannot guarantee mutual aid funds to every applicant
  • Applications will be reviewed by a committee of trans and cis women, gender diverse and transgender people living with HIV
  • Applicants will be notified whether they are selected or not, so there is no need to follow up and ask about the status of your application. However, it may take up to 30 days to receive a response.
  • PWN-USA cannot provide tax advice and you should consult a tax professional if you have questions
