What time is it? Election time! Yep, elections don’t just happen in even years.

Local and state elections are just as important as congressional midterms and presidential elections, sometimes even more so, as life-changing policies can win or lose by tiny margins.

For PWN, our work to elevate issues that matter to our communities is year round. We do integrated voter engagement, organizing with our communities to identify solutions to problems and address them—at the ballot box, in legislative sessions, and wherever those decisions are made.

We just kicked off our Fall 2023 campaigns this weekend with a canvass shift in Colorado—going door to door talking to voters about critical issues at stake to keep our communities safe and healthy—and a training and launch celebration in Pennsylvania.

This week, we’ll begin calling voters on the phones in Houston, Philly, and Denver.

So what are we talking about?

  • In Houston, we’re organizing to pressure the city to reduce funding for cops and use those dollars to fund public health. These dollars can be better spent on mental health, harm reduction, and other services that actually keep our people safe.
  • In Philadelphia, we’re building community support for Overdose Prevention Centers, also known as safe consumption sites. These are essential harm reduction tools to keep our communities safe.
  • In Colorado, we’re fighting for a statewide ballot measure, Prop HH, that will reduce property taxes and increase state funding for education and rental assistance.
