🌻 PWN Spring Voter Campaigns Wrap Up! 🌻

Our voter engagement teams have been working hard these past weeks mobilizing and educating their communities. HUGE congratulations to all of our IVE staff, chapter members, and volunteers who made this another powerful election season! 🎉

Our PWN-PA crew knocked on 2,027 doors, called 6,957 voters, & ID’d 415 supporters of Safe Syringe Programs!

Our PWN-CO team contacted 5,442 voters, ID'd 244 supporters, and moved 263 folks to contact their representatives!

Stay tuned for campaign updates from our voter engagement leaders in Houston, TX!

Do you believe in investing in harm reduction? Do you want to use your voice to protect our communities? Sign onto PWN-PA's petition letter to Tell the Philadelphia Mayor, City Council, & State Lawmakers to Invest in Harm Reduction! As described by Kendra Brooks, Philadelphia city council member at-large, more than 1,400 people died from overdoses in 2022. This is more than double the rate of deaths from gun violence, with the highest rates amongst Black men. Evidence confirms what we already know - harm reduction fights stigma and keeps our communities safer!

🔥 PWN-AL Rocked Advocacy Day! 🔥

Huge shout out to our PWN-Alabama chapter for their outstanding work speaking with legislators for HIV Advocacy Day at the state capital! Our members pushed the largest HIV service organization in the state to more meaningfully engage people living with HIV in the planning of this advocacy day. They advocated for access to quality healthcare, support for SB 13 (a constitutional amendment protecting individuals’ right to make their own reproductive decisions), and bodily autonomy.

"As we remember the campaigns of Act-up and Silence=Death, and the ashes to the White House Lawn and all the lobbying and sit-ins, and marches, and activism- we memorialize community loss yet we inspire each other in this fight. As we go from patient rights to human rights, we are more than just a number!" -Numerical Disorder by Lisa Johnson-Lett

🎤 PWN @ AIDSWatch 2024 - A Recap! 🎤

Did you miss AIDSWatch? Did you attend & want to revisit the memories? Check out these blog posts from our members who participated! 🤓

"We, as members of PWN-USA came to AIDSWatch, we came with the purpose to have our voices heard from across the US. As women living with HIV, we are the experts on living with HIV and our fundamental needs to live out loud and to live life on our terms."

-Tana Pradia (TX)

"My state brought the second largest delegation to AIDSWatch with nineteen people from Alabama. This year’s AIDSWatch theme was 'We’re All In This Together.' We are stronger together and we join generations of advocates who have come to Washington for years."

-Katie Willingham (AL)

"The most impactful part were the stories told by each of us living with HIV.  It would not have been nearly as successful without our voices. 'Nothing about us without us.' The best part for everyone there was being in Washington, D.C. when the FY24 Budget was passed and there were no funding cuts for HIV/AIDS programs!"

-Marcya Gullatte (AL)

"We are so much more than just people living with HIV, we are courageous, intrepid experts who know how to write and understand policy. We are so beautifully diverse. We are too stunning to be ignored! We are too confident to be intimidated! ¡Nosotres somos fuertes! We know that together we are unstoppable."

-Susan Mull (PA)
