Roxanne Glapion

Roxanne Glapion is a survivor. She was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and confidant. She was diagnosed with HIV in 2004 while working at Charity Hospital as a Unit Secretary. Her life turned upside down. As a result of her diagnosis, she battled depression. Through the support of her partner at the time, very close friends, and family, she saw that HIV is a part of her, not who she is.

She relocated to Dallas in August 2005, one week before Hurricane Katrina. While in Dallas, she was referred to A Sister’s Gift Women’s Center, the only all-female-based AIDS Service Organization in Dallas. Under the guidance of the CEO, Roxie became the Assistant Executive Director of A Sister’s Gift, Group Facilitator, Director of Programs, and a member of the Care Team. She is also involved in other advocacy groups in the Dallas area.
