November 20, 2019: For 20 years, November 20 has been observed as Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR), a day for for various communities to come together to honor the lives of transgender people that were lost to violence. PWN-USA envisions and works toward a future in which all people of trans experience are supported to live fulfilling, secure and happy lives, free from all forms of violence, harassment, hostility, or discrimination.

A Black trans woman in a wheelchair proudly holds a waving transgender flag, a Muslim trans woman of color in a gold hijab holds up a rose, and a Black woman holds up a sign that says: “Trans Liberation”. They are surrounded by mountains, flowers, stars, and a river flowing into a wave.]

Please join us today, and every day, as we honor our trans and gender-nonconforming (TGNC) siblings who have been killed and traumatized by hate and violence, and in uplifting and celebrating the resilience of the TGNC community.

Enjoy and share the beautiful Trans Day of Resilience artwork below, an annual project from our partners at Forward Together where trans artists imagine free trans futures.

[Image description: “I float in a flesh that defies taxonomy. Erases binaries.” is a cut paper layered work that features a nonbinary child that cannot be defined by any categories. The child’s brown skin is adorned in gold and their tentacles curl around themselves instead of legs. They are floated amongst a cluster of water lilies that all gently encompass the child in their light green, bright orange, and gold foliage.]

[Image description: Cut paper and collage image with a yellow and orange background and text that reads: “trans is freedom!” Two people are in a small sailboat on the water, and one of them looks into the distance through a telescope. We see the head and shoulders of a large figure in the clouds, wearing a baseball cap with a Puerto Rican flag, and looking down at the sailboat. Brightly colored clouds, the sun, and a golden comet surround them.]
