Happy New Year from PWN!

Dear PWN Family,

Happy New Year!

Our members accomplished so much last year, and we just know that together, we can take it to the next level in 2019.

PWN’s staff team spent much of the end of last year planning ambitious goals and programs for the two years to come. A Complete Advocacy Guide and Toolkit for Women Living with HIV, our Electoral Organizing Bootcamp, the third class of PWN Policy Fellows, 3 more episodes of PWNCares with virtual coffee table chats–these are just a few of the exciting things you’ll be hearing about over the coming weeks and months.

Thank you for being in community with us. We love you!

Venita Ray, Deputy Director

Want to receive a Valentine from LOVE POSITIVE WOMEN?

PWN is thrilled to be partnering with Visual AIDS, Fire Island Artist Residency, and Dieu Donne this year for LOVE POSITIVE WOMEN 2019!

LOVE POSITIVE WOMEN (LPW) is an ongoing project started in 2013 by Visual AIDS artist Jessica Whitbread. It is now an international series of grassroots events that uses Valentine’s Day as a backdrop, creating a platform for individuals and communities to engage in public and private acts of love and caring for women living with HIV. Working from a place of strength, LPW focuses on the idea of interconnectedness, relationship building, loving oneself and loving ones’ community. Learn more about LPW here.

To receive a handmade valentine, please email your name and mailing address to [email protected] by January 31, 2019.

Valentines will be sent out at the beginning of February so that they arrive by Valentine’s Day, February 14. (International mailings may arrive in the second half of the month.) To respect privacy, discreet envelopes will bear the recipient’s address without additional information.

Please note that the valentines are for women living with HIV only. Thank you for respecting this.

The Fiercest Women Living with HIV Organization Around Is Hiring a Policy Director

PWN is hiring a policy director!

We are seeking a candidate who understands the HIV epidemic and the domestic policy response as a symptom of broad-scale inequity and multiple injustices. Our ideal candidate understands power, including how to advance racial, gender and economic justice through federal and state-level HIV policy advocacy, is an excellent coalition-builder and relationship manager, and is deeply committed to building political analysis and policy advocacy skills among our constituency: primarily people of color, women and people of trans experience living with HIV in the United States. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work in both the policy and grassroots community environments.
